Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Christmas is now over but I continue to quote Christmas songs, because I truly feel like I am living in a ‘winter wonderland.’ Cheesy I know! But putting a Californian in snow is like taking a fish out of water.

Well, this Californian girl had to explore this winter wonderland.  I am not use to staying inside all day, and I was getting anxious at the end of today .  Unlike California, I had to strap on my wool socks, winter boots, three jackets and gloves.  Somehow it still was not enough, but I did live.

This is my journey through the snow…

All of these beautiful pictures are taken at my grandmother’s farm which has been in the family for the last 43 years.  It is a beautiful place, and it holds many memories for this brunette.   I hope you continue to have a beautiful Christmas season – stay warm!

A Merry Snowy Christmas & A Year in Review

Hark! How the Bells, Sweet silver bells! Currently enjoying a beautiful snowy day in Michigan.

Hello, my lovely readers!

Merry Christmas! I know I am catching you at the end of the day, but I wanted to make sure that I said it before the day was up.  My readership has been growing immensely these last few months, and it is all due to the continuing support of all of you!  Merry Christmas and thank you from the bottom of my heart for that.  I hope your Christmas was filled with yummy food, lots of sugar and family laughs. I know mine was!

My family and I made our way to Northern Michigan late Christmas eve (yesterday).  When we arrived in Michigan, we were greeted with a white christmas.  What a wonderful day with family and food!

Since it is Christmas and the season of being thankful of the things we have in our lives, I have been reflecting upon my last year.  This is my year in review…next year will need to be just as amazing.

I attended my first baseball game, and I fell in love with Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants. Hehe

I celebrated my 21st birthday and had my first beer at Stone Brewing Co.

I traveled to Tennessee, Las Vegas, Florida and Michigan.

Firsts – First time zipplinning & first time indoor skydiving

Worked my first beer festival with Wiens Brewing.

Found my passion through the Circle of Change Leadership Conference

Moved in with new roommates and started a new job with the Boys n Girls Club.

Meant amazing new bloggers through this very supportive blogging community.

Big breath! That was a big year.

It is amazing the many different things we can achieve in just one year.  Imagine if we had a 100 years!  I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to accomplish all of these.  My New Years resolution is to come soon – stay tuned!

Just Another Sunny Winter Day in San Diego

I should not be rubbing in the beautiful weather of Southern California right now but it is really hard not too.  Especially when I see daily blog posts, twitter updates and Facebook posts on the snow ‘everywhere’ in the country.  None the less, I hope this little blog entry brings a little warm sunshine into your snowy day.

Today was a beautiful day in San Diego.  The snow was sand and my jacket was a short sleeve dress top.  For Christmas, I bought my mother and I tickets to the Nutcracker Ballet which has become a yearly, Christmas tradition for the both of us.

We arrived a little early in San Diego, and we decided to visit the Seaport Village for a bit to eat.  The village is a beautiful collection of little shops, yummy bakeries and restaurants sitting next to the harbor of San Diego.

We decided to try a new restaurant for lunch.  We poked our heads into the Edge Water Grill.  If not for the food, I would visit this place for the view.

For lunch, we shared a turkey sandwhich with a fabulous strawberry vinaigrette spread.  This was my favorite part of the meal! It was very yummy and delicious.  As a side, we enjoyed a couple octopuses – Calamari.  In my opinion, what makes a Calamari dish yummy is the sauce, and this sauce was pretty amazing.

My mother insisted on taking a photo of me with the little octopus.

That sandwich sure looks great from this angle.

After our lunch, we hopped over to the California Ballet to see our annual production of the Nutcracker.  Everything was decked out for Christmas, and it made me even more excited for the big day fast approaching.

ImageIf you have not seen a production of the Nutcracker, I would suggest you get to it!  It’s a beautiful ballet, and the music is amazing.  My favorite part is the cute, adorable kids running around on stage all dressed up.  They pretty much just sit on stage and look adorable.  The audience’s reaction is ‘aw….’ You cannot get much better than that!

Merry Christmas and until next time!
