Oh So Sweet

Do you love yummy BBQ? I know I sure do! Many of the reasons might have something to do with growing up in Huntsville, Alabama.

Slows BBQ is a little joint in downtown Detroit, Michigan. Amongst old factory buildings and the old Detroit train station, Slows is the perfect, classy restaurant amongst a city of history. This little place is in an area known as Corktown which was first settled by the Irish in the mid 1800s.

Slows BBQ is known for, of course, its yummy BBQ, but also its amazing selection of beer. These beer selections come from breweries through out Michigan, and it is one of the few places in Michigan that offers this collection. My selection tonight was the Founder’s Red Rye. It was a medium malt, light, balanced with a hint of pineapple finish.
My selection of BBQ was The Mary-Ann Brisket with an amazing side of Mac-n-cheese. Slows is particularly famous for its savory, cheesy mac-n-cheese. It was the perfect side to the BBQ. The brisket was wet, tangy and smokey. The meat was tender and left an array of different flavors in your mouth. Now, I am usually pretty picky about my BBQ sauces; however, Slow’s had an amazing Apple BBQ sauce. I have never had something like this in my life, but it was the perfect combination of sweet and savory.
Slows BBQ is a fun little place in old, historic downtown Detroit. The BBQ is amazing, and the beer selection is extensive. If you ever find yourself in this part of the US, I would highly recommend this little place.
